The Moth Workshop

This Moth workshop took place on Sunday, May 1, 2022 at 3 p.m. at the Main Line Art Center. The workshop was a collaboration by H-CAN’s ArtSquad (formerly Arts & Advocacy) and the Disability & Accessibility action groups. This project was developed to help strengthen the H-CAN community by offering space for members and friends to share their varied experiences, explore intersectionalities, and build trust. We asked participants to share their stories with the public in further hopes that all event attendees, regardless of H-CAN affiliation, will be inspired to find points of commonality, reflect on unfamiliar perspectives, and re-engage with the larger community in new and exciting ways.

The chance to work with The Moth was an invaluable opportunity. H-CAN was lucky enough to apply for and be selected as a participant through The Moth’s Community Program, which works with non-profit and volunteer organizations nationwide to host story-telling workshops. You may be familiar with The Moth through their live shows, podcasts, Peabody Award-winning Radio Hour on NPR, and New York Times best selling books. The Moth brings the power of personal storytelling to millions of people each year—creating community and building empathy around the world, a goal that is in line with H-CAN’s own mission.
